Sometimes our bodies do things we just don’t understand. One unusual problem that has been asked about is why there is a lump between vagina and anus - the area also known as the perineum. There are a number of issues which can cause a lump between vag and anus. Some of these include cysts, abscesses, hemorrhoids, infected hair, clogged sweat gland, or a benign skin growth.

Perineal Cysts or Abscesses

There are different types of cysts that can appear on the perineum. Most are benign but can be painful and uncomfortable. Sometimes warm baths or warm compresses will help, but it's best to see the doctor for the best treatment. Sometimes this type of cysts need to be opened and drained, and if infection is present, you may also need antibiotics to clear it up.

External Hemorrhoids

Sometimes an external hemorrhoid will appear in the perineal area. These type hemorrhoids are found in a vein located near the anal verge and the wall has grown weak and is protruding. Home treatment includes sitz baths or over-the-counter creams or pads.

These treatments can also be used to help ease the discomfort of ingrown hairs, clogged sweat glands, or other benign skin growths.

Notice

It is best to see a doctor to have the diagnosis confirmed and discover what treatment is best for your situation. In rare cases, a lump between anus and vagina can be a sign of cancer, but as stated, that is indeed rare. Regardless of the cause of the problem, a physician can help relieve both your mind and your discomfort. Don’t wait until the problem becomes worse. This may be an embarrassing situation to talk about with your health care provider, but it is the only way to know exactly what you are dealing with and what steps you need to take next.
