The trend of low carbohydrate, also referred to as low carb diet, started in the 1970s when the benefits of a low carb diet were showcased by Dr. Robert Atkins. The type of low carb diet varies with the particular program an individual is following along with and how comfortable he is with the program. One thing that is common in all low carb diets is that all of them require consumption of around 50-150g of carbohydrates daily.
