Ingrown hair can not only be a source of embarrassment, but also a cause of concern because of how difficult and painful it can be to get rid of them. Of course, needless to say, this is WHY you should know how to free yourself of ingrown hair.

Having said that, there are certain things you need to keep in mind. For starters, if there is an infection in the area, then you should treat it by applying an antibiotic ointment. How to Get Rid of Ingrown Hair

There are many ways to get rid of that annoying ingrown hair, and it’s entirely up to you and how quickly you want to get rid of those hairs as to which method you want to opt for. Needless to say, the natural/DIY methods take a longer time to get rid of ingrown hair, as opposed to medical options.

Try aloe vera

Razor bumps and ingrown hair can effectively be treated with aloe vera. It gives instant relief to any inflammation, rashes or itch you may be feeling, while keeping your skin moisturized and soothing it at the same time.

All you have to do is take out the gel from an aloe plant or buy organic gel from the market, rub it gently on the affected area and let it air dry. After 20 minutes or so, simply wipe it off with a damp cotton swab. Do this 2-3 times a day.

Soak with tea tree oil

Tea tree oil is a natural antiseptic and antibacterial ingredient, which is why so many products for pimples and acne have it as their main ingredient. For a soak, you need to pour around 20 drops of tea tree oil in a big bowl of warm water. You can either dip the affected area in the water for 10-15 minutes, or use cotton swabs to apply the mixture on the affected area. This will loosen up your ingrown hair as well as open your pores.

Use warm compress

The easiest way on how to get rid of ingrown hair is by opting for a warm compress. All you need is a bowl of warm water and a wash cloth. Dip the cloth in the water, wring it and then press it on your ingrown hair area. The moment you feel the cloth cooling down, immediately dip it in the water and repeat the process.

These are best used if you have a slight infection in the area, like rashes or bumps with pus in them. Apply a small amount as instructed on the medicine tubes and wait for the infection to go away. You can club this with a tea tree oil soak to get rid of the infection faster.

Scrub with coconut oil

Coconut oil is antibacterial and antifungal in nature, not to mention how it instantly hydrates your skin while taking care of mild itching. For this scrub, you only need the following:

  • 1/2 cup brown sugar

  • 1/4 cup coconut oil

  • 8-10 drops of preferred essential oil (use tee tree oil if you have a mild infection)

Take out a little amount, and apply on the ingrown hair in clockwise and anti-clockwise circular motions.   • Moisturizing skin, etc. etc.

When used topically, the tannic acid present in black tea soothes inflammation and redness on skin almost instantly. So once you’ve had your cup of black tea, don’t throw away the tea bag. Wet it and rub it on your skin for 3-5 minutes or simply place it on your skin and remain still. You can do this anywhere between 2 and 4 times a day to get good results.
