Don’t Overwash Your Hair

The first time you observed hair thinning, your initial reaction maybe is to wash your hair more often. You may believe that washing more frequently is good for the remaining hair however, this is not the fact. Excessive washing can actually cause hair damage and hair loss. It is best to use men’s shampoo only once per day to see good results.


Have a Nutritious Diet

In some cases, a receding hairline is the result of poor diet. Naturally, hair is made up of proteins, so supply your body with enough protein by taking sports nutrition supplements and eating foods rich in protein. Taking men’s multivitamins are also helpful in providing the nutritional deficiencies in your diet. Eating fish which contains high sources of protein, minerals, omega 3 fatty acids and vitamin D are also important to stop and prevent hair loss.


Reduce Excessive Stress

Go to your stylist to cut your hair short, apply with some hair wax or gel and tousle it with your fingers. You can also go for a Caesar cut which is good for those having a receding hairline. In Caesar cut, your stylist may trim the sides and back of the hair short, while leaving the top longer. Afterwards, brush the top of the hair and apply some wax to hold it in its place.


Apply Topical Medication

Treat the scalp with topical minoxidil medication. The minoxidil can stimulate the growth of hair and reverse hair loss. To use, you should first make sure that your scalp and hair are dry, then rub the solution on the scalp where there is receding hairline twice a day. You may need at least 2 months to see results. However, when you stop using the product, hair loss may reoccur.


Wear a Wig

Wearing a wig is a good way to cope with receding hairline. Wigs are generally available for men and women. You can choose one that fits your style and taste. Wigs that are created from human hair are expensive, but they look more natural compared to wigs that are made up of synthetic.


Take Finasteride

You can use finasteride, also known as Propecia, to treat hair loss. If you take finasteride orally, it can block the testosterone from changing to dihydrotestosterone which can bind to androgen receptors of the hair follicle and lead to hair loss. However, women should not take finasteride particularly, if they are pregnant. Finasteride is absorbed in the skin and can pose serious birth defects to the baby.


Transplant Hair

During the transplant, your doctor may move healthy hair from the side and back of the head and place it on the top to restore natural look. Hair transplants may be expensive and may require several procedures. After 2 months of transplant, the transplanted hair may shed, but new hair is growing. Within 6 months, the hair may appear normal.
