The best way to prevent hangover stomach ache is to stop drinking, but if you are already suffering with it, there are some ways to get relief.

How to Deal With Hangover Stomach Ache


Drink Some Water

During a hangover, the first thing you should do is drink sufficient water to prevent dehydration. If your body is dehydrated, your body will feel very ache and pain, causing you too much discomfort. Once you are hydrated, you will observe that the discomfort will dissipate. Drinks that are useful in relieving dehydration in your body include flat soda, isotonic drinks, water and bouillon. Bouillon has minerals and vitamins which the body can use after dehydration.


Drink Soothing Tea

Ginger is great in relieving stomach problems. It is good to take ginger tea in the morning. Just take 2 pieces of ginger root and peel it. Boil two cups of water and add the sliced ginger. Simmer the mixture for 20 minutes. Use a strainer to remove the ginger and add honey to taste. Stomach ache will soon be gone in minutes. Aside from ginger tea, mint tea can also soothe the hangover stomach ache.


Eat Yogurt

Eating yogurt is good for the stomach because it has lactic acid bacteria, which aid in good digestion. It is even better, if you eat probiotic yogurt like Danone Activia. Probiotics can help restore the natural balance of your system. It can work to restore the level of flora in the intestine and stomach. Drinking alcohol can disrupt flora balance but you may feel better after eating probiotics.


Take Painkillers Carefully

Painkillers like Aspirin and ibuprofen can help in reducing hangover headache, but it should be avoided, if you are suffering from abdominal pain. Medicines can cause gastric irritation. Do not take ibuprofen, when you are dehydrated because it can cause kidney problem, especially if you have poor kidney function. Likewise, Acetaminophen (Tylenol) should also not be taken, when you have a hangover since alcohol metabolism can boost the acetaminophen toxicity.


Sleep Through It

Stomach hurts after drinking can really bring discomfort and sometimes the best medicine is sleep. If your hangover and upset stomach are not eased by drinking sufficient fluids and eating, you can try to sleep a few more hours. When you wake up, you may feel some improvement and may have the energy to try other home remedies for hangover.


Distract Your Attention

Feeling guilty for your hangover can only make you feel worse. Giving yourself some time and distracting yourself from the hangover symptoms can really help. Therefore, it is best that you take advantage of your “free” day to watch a new movie, catch up on your favorite shows or even read a good book. Tomorrow you will feel a lot better.

Do Exercises

Forcing yourself to do some exercises when you have hangover can provide some relief. Get up from your bed and take a brisk walk. Brisk walking and other exercise can boost circulation which pushes out any toxins from the body much faster. Likewise, increased circulation can also pump oxygen and blood to the brain, boosting your feeling of wellness.
