The article implies that yogurt is contraindicated for the lactose intolerant. Wrong! Yogurt does not contain a significant amount of lactose. The lactose has been converted by the bacteria that make the yogurt. I am lactose intolerant and I have never had a problem with any live-culture yogurt. However, there is yogurt-based ice cream which does contain potentially problematic amounts of lactose.

@ : thank you for sharing this David.....butter seems to give me problems, heavy cream, etc etc. But the cultured stuff, seems to be ok. I have a hard time believing that in every brand of yogurt and cultured dairy on the shelf that all the lactose is eaten, but that is me being a skeptic :).

Not always, I tried full fat organic yogurt and I've never been in so much pain, even though I took lactaid tablets. I think it depends on the brand and how long they process it.
