Myth: Vitamin C Can Make Your Kids Invincible from Cold and Flu

Vitamin C’s major purpose is to protect a child’s health especially if he/she is not getting enough nutrients. It also keeps the immune system strong. However, this does not automatically mean that your kids are completely protected from contracting cold and flu.


Myth: Fresh Air Can Heal the Wounds Faster

Actually, for kids and adults alike, covered wounds are faster to heal than exposing it to fresh air. A covered wound also has lesser chances of scarring the skin. The natural moisture from the tissues that are reforming the skin is a good thing.


Myth: Kids Should Be on a Low-Fat Diet Plan

Kids burn more fats because their body is more active and their metabolism is faster. Healthy fats are also required during their development stages. Thus, kids can handle a fatty diet, as long as these are healthy fats such as canola oil, salmon, tuna and dairy products.


Myth: Fruit Juice Is Always Better

While freshly squeezed fruit juice is relatively better than powdered and concentrated juices, it also has its downside. For instance, fresh fruit juice has higher sugar levels which can affect your kids’ blood sugar level.

Actually, it comes with how you introduce vegetables to your kids. If you introduce is as a scrumptious meal, your kids will just follow suit. If you introduce it as some sort of requirement or punishment, your kids will most likely avoid these.


A Healthy Home for Your Kids

What makes a healthy home for your kids does not only mean a strict diet and eating vegetables. It goes beyond that and beyond the dining room. A healthy home should also be clean and germ-free to keep your kids sanitized and prevent sickness. Here’s the list of rooms that should stay clean, in order of business:

  1. Kitchen and bathroom. These two rooms should be prioritized and maintained its cleanliness at all times. For kitchens, this is where your kids eat and you would not want them to swallow any microscopic germs. For bathrooms, this is where most germs live and reproduce.

  2. Your kids’ bedroom. The bedroom is where your kids will mostly hang out when they’re at home. Make sure the air they breathe in their room is clean.

  3. Living room. You and your family hang out in the living room for family sessions. Keep the area clean and germ-free to prevent illnesses.

  4. Laundry and cleaning closet. Although your kids will not be regularly hanging out in these rooms, it would still help to keep it clean and free from bacteria.
